The Management Team

Rupert Leggett
Chief Executive Officer

Rupert Leggett was appointed Chief Executive Officer of FPG Amentum in 2022. He joined the company in 2018 and previously served as Chief Commercial Officer. Rupert has more than 15 years’ experience in aircraft finance and leasing, having held senior roles at companies including Plane Business and Aergo Capital. Earlier in his career, he worked in private equity focused on the transportation and aviation sectors. Rupert is a graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University.

Jan Melgaard
Executive Chairman

Jan Melgaard is the Executive Chairman of FPG Amentum and has more than 30 years’ experience across commercial aviation financing, leasing and investment. Prior to joining FPG Amentum in 2010, Jan was CEO of Nordic Aviation Capital and President & CEO of Volito Aviation, a joint venture with Goldman Sachs. Jan holds an MBA from Columbia University in New York.

Mitchel Simpson
Chief Financial Officer

Mitchel Simpson was appointed Chief Financial Officer at FPG Amentum in April 2006. Mitchel brings over 25 years’ experience in the aviation and leasing industries. Since joining the company, he has overseen its transition from captive lessor to full-service third-party lease manager. Prior to FPG Amentum, Mitchel worked in De Lage Landen (part of the Rabobank Group) in a number of roles, including Head of Structured Asset Finance, with responsibility for leasing, product development and debt syndication. Mitchel has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from University College Dublin and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Damon Connery
Chief Commercial Officer

Damon Connery joined FPG Amentum in August 2022 as Chief Commercial Officer. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the aviation industry. Before joining FPG Amentum, Damon was Head of Remarketing Asia Pacific at BBAM and held numerous roles in BBAM’s Europe and Asia airline marketing teams. Damon has also held senior technical positions at Amentum, BBAM, elfc and Lufthansa Technik. Damon holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin.

Jean O'Driscoll
Chief Operating Officer

Jean O’Driscoll has been the Chief Operating Officer of FPG Amentum since May 2022. She has over 25 years’ experience in aviation leasing and finance. Prior to this role, she served as General Counsel of FPG Amentum from 2012.  Before joining FPG Amentum, Jean was General Counsel at GreenStone Aviation Limited and, before that, Head of Commercial Negotiation at RBS Aviation Capital (now SMBC Aviation Capital), where she was also a member of the management team.  She previously worked as an associate at Norton Rose in Paris. Jean holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Trinity College Dublin and has been admitted as a solicitor in Ireland and in England and Wales.

Hugh Leech
SVP Finance

Hugh Leech is Senior Vice President, Finance at FPG Amentum. He joined the company in 2017 and is a Chartered Accountant with 15 years’ experience across financial reporting and aircraft leasing. Prior to joining FPG Amentum, he held roles at Santos Dumont and State Street, and trained as an accountant with BDO. Hugh received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Trinity College Dublin and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Ian McCabe
SVP Lease Management

Ian McCabe is Senior Vice President, Lease Management. He joined FPG Amentum in 2017 as Contracts Manager, having previously held a similar role at Airbus Financial Services UC. Before entering the aircraft leasing industry, he held a number of senior positions in the logistics sector. Ian is a graduate of the University of Limerick and holds a Diploma in Investment Operations and Compliance, as well as a Diploma in Aviation Leasing and Finance from the Law Society of Ireland.

Treasa Mescal
SVP Structured Finance & Risk

Treasa Mescal is Senior Vice President, Structured Finance and Risk at FPG Amentum. She has more than 15 years’ experience in aircraft leasing and finance, and joined the company in 2023. Before joining FPG Amentum, Treasa was Head of Transaction Structuring at Avolon. Earlier in her career, she held a range of finance roles with Deloitte Ireland and Moody’s Investor Service in Australia. Treasa holds a Masters of Mathematics from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Science in Experimental Physics from the University of Galway.

Kathleen Oliver
General Counsel

Kathleen Oliver was appointed General Counsel of FPG Amentum in November 2022, upon joining the company. She has over 15 years’ experience in aircraft leasing and finance. Before joining FPG Amentum, Kathleen was the Head of Transaction Legal (Asia Pacific) at Avolon, based in Hong Kong. Prior to that, she was an associate at Vedder Price and Milbank in the United States. Kathleen holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Texas School of Law and is admitted to practice in New York.

Donal Ward
Head of Technical

Donal Ward joined FPG Amentum as Senior Vice President, Technical in January 2022. He has over 10 years’ experience in the aircraft leasing industry. Most recently, he held the role of Vice President, Technical at CDB Aviation. Prior to that, Donal held a number of technical roles covering aircraft transitions and asset management at Goshawk and BBAM. He received a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Limerick.

2005
Amentum Capital established by HSH Nordbank and DAL.
2007
Amentum Capital becomes a full-service operating lessor.
2010
HSH Nordbank becomes 100% shareholder of Amentum Capital.
2012
Amentum Capital senior management buys 100% of shares in the company from HSH Nordbank.
2013
FPG and Amentum Capital sign strategic partnership.
2015
FPG becomes majority shareholder; Amentum Capital becomes FPG Amentum.
2018
Divestment of HSH Nordbank aviation portfolio is completed.
2023
FPG Amentum surpasses $3bn in assets under management.
2025
FPG Amentum celebrates twenty-year milestone.
